Past Revivals

Revivals in the Past

A need for a fresh out pour of revival

Across the world there is a growing cry to God for a fresh outpouring of the latter rain of revival amongst the men of God.

The men and women of God feel and experience a lack of holy fire and saddened by their weak and ineffective life which is neither cold nor hot.

Their life reflects God’s word to the Church in Laodicea as revealed in Revelations 3: 15-16 “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot or cold- I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”

The promise of restoration

There are times in the past when God visited His people and restored their lives to a level the word of God wants them to experience.

The children of God are excited by the possibility of a fresh wind of God’s Spirit in the church. Many are developing a holy passion to yearn for a mighty wind of God, for God to come down from heaven and establish His Kingdom amongst His people.

The despair of the truthful ones

They are jealous for His name and His fame. Their appetites have been whetted.  But what can they do? What steps can they take? What is an appropriate response to the need of this hour? What does God want us to do?

What can we do?

Well, one thing we can do is look at ‘revival history’, which God himself encourages us to do.

Psalm 145:4-6 ‘One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.’

We encourage you to look to the men and movements of the past who have witnessed powerful visitations of God through Revival in their lives, in their churches and in their nation and became carriers of His fire.

What will happen when we do what we have to!

  1. You will see how our mighty God reached into the lives of ordinary people like us – despite weaknesses, fears and failings – and equipped them to become shafts of light that dispelled the darkness in their generation. They were ordinary people who experienced an extraordinary God.
  2. These historical experiences of men of God who saw God work among them, will excite your heart, fuel your passion, stimulate your prayer life and motivate you to employ the same things that enabled our forefathers to catch the wind of heaven. They will reveal the principles and practices that can unleash God’s blessing upon our world.

And our Prayer is!

Let it be, O Lord. Let your mighty shadow fall upon this whole earth to fill the earth with your Glory and power so that Nations once again experience your mighty fire, power and Glory in our Nations.
